This selection of 5 short films from across Palestine relay effective and important stories about a country under occupation. These films are made up of first time and student films as well as those by established makers.

Coffee Pot

Jomu’a lives in a refugee camp. Every morning he wakes up early to go to the camp entrance to earn his living selling coffee. But everyone there is in need of more income. The options are strained in a place where employment and occupation interchange as a test of moral and financial wellbeing.

I Insist To Keep On Filming

After 10 years of filming Bilal Tamimi has now gained a respected notoriety for documenting injustices in his village of Nabi Saleh in the West Bank. This 10 minute short film by two members of the photojournalism collective Activestill chrinicles his work and the way he fearlessly uses his camera as a weapon.

Tour De Gaza

Twenty-two-year-old Alaa AlDali trained daily in the 40-km long, conflict-ridden Gaza Strip. Despite being the fastest Palestinian road cyclist, he was repeatedly refused permission to travel abroad for competitions. Until one day, he was shot by an Israeli sniper while protesting his immobility. This short documentary follows Alaa’s physical rehabilitation and his new struggle to be a paracyclist under the Gaza blockade. Tour de Gaza takes us through this inaccessible landscape on the wheels of this ambitious cyclist, as he maintains steadfast to compete at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.
