London Palestine Film Festival presents a special screening of Bye Bye Tiberias, followed by a discussion with Hekayyatna. This event is a part of Palestine Cinema Days: Around the World 2025
Leaving her village to follow her dream of becoming an actress, Hiam Abbass also left behind her mother, grandmother and seven sisters. Thirty years later, her filmmaker daughter Lina returns with her to journey through the vanished places among the scattered memories of four generations of daring Palestinian women.
Set between past and present, Bye Bye Tiberias pieces together images of today, family footage from the nineties and historical archives to portray four generations of daring Palestinian women who keep their story and legacy alive through the strength of their bonds, despite exile, dispossession, and heartbreak.
This screening will be followed by a session with Hekayyatna exploring the question: how can archives shape our collective identities?
Hekayyatna is a community production house, building connections, one story at a time. They put on events in London and beyond where each gathering unpacks big questions through stories and activities. Part workshop, part salon, part conversation. At every Hekayyatna event, get ready to learn something new, meet someone new, and try something new.
What is Palestine Cinema Days: Around The World?
Palestine Cinema Days: Around The World is organised by Filmlab Palestine who uses its channels to support the forcibly canceled Palestine Cinema Days Festival. On November 2, the anniversary of the Balfour Declaration, Filmlab Palestine is organising over 500 Palestinian film screenings around the world. This global effort is a show of solidarity with Palestine, an act of amplification for censored Palestinian voices, and a contribution to shifting the distorted narrative.
