Edward Said takes us through a life lived between worlds: Jerusalem and New York, exile and belonging. His voice and rare archives reveal the man behind the public intellectual.
Twenty years after his death, Palestinian-American scholar, intellectual, musician and activist Edward Said recounts his life and the untold history of Palestine in his own words. Made with full access to the Said family and estate, the film draws on unseen family archives, home movies, recordings, interviews, lectures and rare television appearances. Spanning seven decades, from his childhood in Jerusalem through exile and his final years in New York, it traces his political awakening, personal struggles and lifelong search for home and belonging, while asking who has the right to tell their own story.
