Frequently labelled as the world’s largest open-air prison, Gaza makes an appearance on news reports whenever a confrontation erupts between Israel and Hamas. On TV sets thousands of miles away, this tiny piece of land has been reduced to an image of violence, chaos and destruction. Gaza looks at life beyond this, on the banality of the everyday, the intimacy of family and the landscapes beyond the headlines. With stunning photography and high grade colour, this feature length observational documentary depicts a people plagued by conflict but not defined by it. Through the people we follow, we hear personal stories and gain a nuanced understanding of what life is like for Gaza's citizens. Gaza is a tender portrait of a beleaguered humanity.
