Using testimonies and field footage, Madleens documents the first wave of the international movement Thousand Madleens To Gaza, a civilian initiative aiming to challenge the blockade imposed on Gaza.
In October 2025, nine civilian boats attempting to reach Gaza were intercepted in international waters by the Israeli navy. On board were civilians from around the world, sailors, activists, healthcare workers, artists and organisers, united by a shared belief that citizens can act when institutions fail. Through testimonies, field footage, archives and motion design, Madleens follows the movement from its spontaneous birth to the return of the crews after interception.
Followed by a guided discussion with Hekayyatna, an organisation all about community and storytelling. They host events in London and beyond, where each gathering unpacks a big question through stories and activities. Part workshop, part salon, part conversation.
