An intimate story of three generations of a Palestinian Bedouin family in Jordan. Facing displacement and racism, their love and resilience are tested to the limit.
On the outskirts of Amman, the Najars are one of the last Afro-Palestinian-Bedouin families in the capital. Living in makeshift tents on agricultural land with their animals, they hold onto a way of life increasingly challenged by the rapidly changing city around them. Abu-Awad and Hakima, the family’s elders, are devoted to Bedouin traditions. Their son Awad struggles between tradition and modernity while his daughter Eman faces bullying over her heritage and skin colour, yearning for acceptance in a city that offers education but threatens to erase her culture. As pressure mounts from the authorities and their neighbours, the family is left isolated and unprotected, forcing them to confront what they must sacrifice to survive when their way of life is under threat. Through uncertainty and humour, the bonds between generations become their greatest source of hope and strength.
